Adventure Cove

All the things lugged home from Gardens by the Bay lol

I won tickets to Adventure Cove during SOYA (Spirit of Youth Awards) 2014.
Thanks again friends, for cheering so loudly for me so that I won! Woohoo! So technically I wasn't really best dressed, just had the most friends.
Hehe, still grateful. I won a pair of adventure cove tickets, a $250 freshkon hamper and $50 Capitaland Mall Voucher :D

Anyway, just a short review of Adventure Cove!
Woke up bright and earl- haha NO, my cousin called and jerked me awake from sleep, LOL or I would have slept through the meeting time.
We reached VivoCity at about 11, but delayed awhile to have breakfast cos I was absolutely famished by then.

I recommend to bring: sunblock and those portable pouches for your phone. I didn't get many pictures cos we didn't have those pouches.
So we entered Adventure Cove at about 12nn, which is also when the sun is really a scorcher. I seriously did not want to burn, so I hurriedly applied sunblock (I actually applied it 3x throughout the day. Seriously guys, you have to keep reapplying or get those SPF 1000 kinds lol).
I remarked to my cousin that Adventure Cove was like the poor relation that Sentosa was ashamed of, it was so far away from the main entrance.

"Quick let's pretend we went to USS too!"

Photo taken right outside Adventure Cove. It was SO hot it was like there was a filter over my phone in the picture lol I imagine that's the steam or something.

We spent the most time on the Adventure River, it was like the lazy river of Wild Wild Wet. It essentially was similar to WWW, but much more fun (and expensive).
I enjoyed the Adventure River the most, there was this portion where the wall was filled with Stingrays roaming around, it was extremely cool. There was this bat cave option too but it was so annoying cos they kept having these fake stalactites (or stalagmites, I can't remember which one came from the top) dripping water onto your face.
I recommend the life vest for floating instead of using the tube floats, when kids are abound your peace is interrupted by immense water splashing onto your face as you float on your back.

The MUST-TRY ride is the riptide rocket, it's like a water roller coaster. You sit on a tubed float and IT IS SO MUCH FUN. Luckily my cousin consented to riding it for a second time, the scaredy-cat (LOL). I missed two of the slides as we were reluctant to keep carrying the floats up. Essentially you spend most of your time carrying the float upstairs to ride the slides.

Recommended slides:
- Riptide Rocket
- Dueling Racer
- Whirlpool Washout
- Tidal Twister

I also took the Pipeline plunge, but it was like any other slide.
I actually cut my elbow on the dueling racer ride :( we were told to keep our elbows on the mat but mine slipped and we were going too fast for me to adjust it back... it wasn't too bad but the cut kept bleeding so I asked for a band-aid from a lifeguard... And now I have a tan-line of a plaster on my elbow ._.

Adventure Cove
Sentosa Island
Opening Hours: 10am - 6pm
Alight at Waterfront station from the monorail.
It was a pretty fun experience overall, but what I detest about water parks is that walking around on the flooring is extremely painful after awhile... The Adventure River is the most easy way to navigate around the park but you can't bring your flipflops in.. so after you disembark the river you have to hop your way around :(

There is also only one dining area in Adventure Cove called The Bay Restaurant.. Prices are as expected for a waterpark in Sentosa. The set meals start from S$13.90, inclusive of a bottled drink. A can of milo costs $4, extremely ridiculous. So I settled for a bottle of iced lemon tea. I had Fish n Chips, which was pretty alright, and my cousin had the pasta and grilled chicken. Both cost $13.90. A little pricey for lunch but beggars can't be choosers, unless we wanted to change and get dressed and leave Adventure Cove for lunch lol. There are kiosks around, but it's hotdogs at like $6. I rather get the full meal.

A photo before our hair got immersed in chlorine

The requisite photo at the entrance.. We only saw it when we were LEAVING. ._.
"Walao why my face so big!" Then...

"Oh look portrait style photo also can fit the logo"

Pretty ship docked at the entrance.. I wonder if it's purely decorative or it can actually function?

Trying to selfie with the ship..... I give up.

So we went to look for food.
Discovered this restaurant called "Slappy Cakes" which sounded quite cool. So we gave it a try.
We were so hungry we just walked in and seated ourselves. After flagging a waitress down for the menu, she looked surprised that we were seated there. Haha.

I ordered pancakes, cos you can make your own and we don't have pancake makers here in Singapore. It isn't a staple breakfast food unlike in the States. So I had so much fun making pancakes.
I ordered pork sausages and bacon bits to make my peanut butter pancake more savoury. Yum! But so messy :(

The pancake mix costs $8.50, and adding on the bacon cost $2, whereas the pork sausages cost $3.
Tap water costs $0.50 but with free refills.

Video of us making the pancakes hehehehehhehe

These are mini mini mini pancakes haha. Look, the fork is normal sized I swear. It's just like droplets of pancake mix haha. Waste not, want not.

Opening Hours: 8:30am - 9:30pm

So full... Still must take photo.

Gorgeous view from Sentosa Boardwalk. I have never walked from Sentosa Island to VivoCity before but the queue for the monorail was ridiculously long. So we walked.
A little unjust cos we paid $4 for the monorail to enter (seriously monorail also fare hike) and if you walked in it only costs $1 lol.
I shall endeavour to walk the next time. But in the morning it's way hotter and I don't know if my good intentions would evaporate just like sweat. LOL.

Panorama view. I think it'd look better in the evening. I shall go again just to take the photo hehe. I am super enamoured by pretty skylines and cityscapes. Actually I think that everyone enjoys it right but just that I would actually go again just to capture the photo lol.

Cousin treated me to Ben & Jerry's! Haha cos her admission to Adventure Cove was free thanks to me lol.

Collage of photos of that day.

I didn't get sunburnt (much, only my elbows) and I am so grateful I kept thinking of reapplying sunblock frequently throughout the entire time I was there. Sunburn and tanning are two completely different things, guys.

Lotsa love,

Ten million years + S.E.A Aquarium

It seems to have been 10 million years since I did a proper blog update.
Scrolled through my entries this year and it's so pathetic I kinda wanna break down and cry lol.
Have decided to dedicate these 2 months left of 2013 to proper blogging - that means with photos AND captions lol.

However, it's hard to have an interesting and entertaining blog when you don't have a life! Haha.
So please follow my on-the-go social media platforms - i.e Twitter and Instagram.
I've left my job at Vocanic as a community manager, it was really difficult juggling a full-time job and part-time studies at the same time.
The crick in my back agrees with me.
So I'm doing ad-hoc stuff and basically hibernating at home. Reason being I've missed being at home as well. The entire year I've spent working, I'm taking these two months of the entire year to be me. Haha.

So, what interesting things have I done recently?
I went to the S.E.A Aquarium with my family!
Here're some photos of the day!

Tip - if you're entering Sentosa with a party of 4, it's actually cheaper to cab in from Vivocity as compared to taking the tram in - the tram costs $4 per person, it costs $6 - 7 for the cab ride ;)
Lunch at Pizza Hut, we were starved and decided to stuff ourselves silly before taking the train into Sentosa.
Photo with Dion - we tried to take a nice photo but the glow of the aquariums = only your silhouette can be seen. I tried to use a flashlight on our faces but we just looked like ghosts.
Of course, I'm the taller one (not)

Oooh, shark!
This was at the end of the exhibit (although it's at the entrance but we somehow managed to walk the aquarium backwards, navigated by directionally-challenged me, of course. It's a little creepy for me cos there were SO MANY of them and they were happily swimming on my head/around my head.
Of course they don't look threatening but I've watched enough B films with sharks to put me off for life.

Panoramic shot. I realized after awhile that it's the best way to take the photo. Of course, with short arms like mine, it doesn't go really far (embarrassed moment)

Part deux

We found a tank with a helpful spotlight in front so we took the chance to take photos and go "Look I'm in an aquarium!" Notice how I'm pointing at the fishes to reiterate the fact that I'm in an aquarium lol.

Nicest shot of the entire day. It was an accident, of course. Nothing good happens unless it's an accident haha. It's so pretty! IT'S POLKA DOTTED C'MON.

I took a really cute video of stingrays (okay I took a couple of vids but the stingrays were the cutest). Check them out hehe. Also, I spent 15 mins trying to get a good view of the stingrays, then walked a couple of exhibits more to discover even larger and photogenic ones. psssfht.

Enjoy the vid! Ignore the sounds it's full of tourists and idiot Singaporeans like me who visit the tourist attraction ON A SATURDAY.
Advice: Avoid tourist traps on weekends. We were so engulfed by people I kept losing track of where everyone was. Also, being short did not help me locate them.

Term 2 has started for school, the mod's called Sex and Gender in Asia and it seems pretty interesting! For the first time in tertiary education I'm going to try and focus and ace this mod. However, I procrastinate too damn much so that resolution will probably die off next week lol.

Would like to complain (sticking to my roots and being a Singaporean) that trying to see the next approaching bus at the SIM bus stop is too damn difficult. All the tall people crowd to the front and I understand that everyone just wants to get their asses home. However, even after jumping like a crazy idiot, I still can't see the bus service number of the next bus approaching!
Will someone install something for the short people?!

There is no lack of short people in Singapore! One friend actually speculated that it was cos we grew up in enclosed areas - notice how Singaporeans spend so much time indoors! Well, Singapore infrastructure, you caused it (sorta), you help fix it! Lol. I'm ranting so much simply cos I was wearing heels the other day and was transitioning between trains at Dhoby Ghaut, waiting to board the escalator when I took a look around me and realized everyone around me was either shorter than me (wearing heels, false height), or the same height as me.

SINGAPORE IS FULL OF SHORT PEOPLE.

Okay, end of rant. Ranting isn't gonna make me grow taller (I wish). Focus on happy things! Like...

Oh, I'm headed to Hong Kong with my family in December! It's been awhile since we took a vacation as a family so I'm looking forward to it haha. Also, Disneyland! Before I turn 21 (and become an adult) haha I should go to the happiest place on earth :D

Hope this long blog post has helped entertain (or at least, educate you about S.E.A Aquarium if you haven't been). Cheers!
